THE ASK: This issue of Align Magazine’s theme is “Press Play.” Develop a photoshoot, story concept, and page design that relates to biting the bullet on actions you’ve been waiting to take.
THE IDEA: Let’s make a spread that explores the relationship between identity and the act of changing one’s appearance. A haircut is so much more than just a change in appearance; it often signifies a shift in our internal sense of identity as well.

CONCEPT
A shoot about pressing play on that change in your appearance that you’ve been daydreaming about making but can’t seem to bite the bullet on. I will convey this story through imagery of friends cutting and dying each other’s hair. The images will convey the radiant happiness that shines through when we embrace our true selves and have fun with our appearances. Settings will include feminine and raw bedrooms and bathrooms of homes. This setting will cultivate the impulsive playful nature of changing your appearance in the comfort of your own home with the company of your friends.
